Launch Day

YRAT now has its new dynamic team for 2009/10.  It includes twelve year 9 pupils from Furness Academy North and South Sites, St Bernards School and Walney School.  There are also college students who are working with the school teams as Research Mentors, and YRAT link teachers who are involved behind the scenes.

On Friday 6th November, we had a launch day at Abbey House Hotel.  We spent the day getting to know each other better, talking about Barrow as a place to live for young people and looking at how we can get the views of more young people in Barrow on issues that matter to them.

Thanks to Clare from Brathay and Ann-Marie and Steve from Lancaster University for working with us on the day.

Research Mentors

YRAT has invited previous members of the team to come back and work with YRAT as paid Research Mentors. There are 12 college students who have all been trained up and have started working with the teams.

They have also worked with the North West Evening Mail on plans for an on-line driving safety DVD for young Cumbrians.
